Mr Lo Van Gia was born in 1919, from Co village, Chieng An commune, Son La town (currently known as Son La City) in a poor family, his parents died early. He was soon enlightened about revolutionary by Son La Prison Party cell.

In August 1943, he successfully led the way for the communist soldiers to escape from Son La Prison including. After returning, he was arrested and killed. In 1994, he was post-humously awarded the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the Communist Party and the Government. To remember his merits and educate young generation about patriotism and revolutionary tradition, the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Committee of Son La have directed to build a Memorial site in his hometown.
